Why do you practice CrossFit?
My goal in my training is to be healthy and capable of above normal feats for as long as possible, God willing. When my daughter is in High School (a scary age for any father of a pretty girl) I want to be able to scare or intimidate any and all of her suitors. I also desire to have the ability to be able to someday be active with her children.
What is most rewarding?
After serving in the Army and experiencing the camarderie there, the CrossFit community has successfully simulated that experience. I have made some great friends, and have seen some awesome relationships develop because of this great community.
What do you find most beneficial?
Strength, and the ability to do things I never thought were possible. It is a great feeling of being capable: capable of doing the common uncommonly well. Having a level of confidence, not ego, that only comes from accomplishments.
How does that translate into your coaching approach?
I want to offer the chance to everyone that walks through our doors the capability to do what they once thought unimaginable. I am not talking about teaching Olympic level gymnastics, although possible, I am talking about that housewife/mother of multiple kids having the ability to lift her bodyweight off of the floor and eventually overhead or the ability to do a pull up(s). I want to help everyone become mobile and capable at all levels. Whether they are a new athlete in middle school or someone that is in their twilight years.
